CLASSIFICATION OF WALLS

LOAD BEARING WALL: It bears loads placed on it from beams and slabs above including its self-weight and bring it to the foundation. These walls support structural members such as beams, slabs, and walls on the above floors above. It combines from the roof to the floor. It can be an outer wall or inside the wall.

NON LOAD BEARING WALL: Non-load bearing walls only take their self-weight. This kind of wall does not carry any structural members such as beams and slabs.  It is known as the interior wall and doesn’t carry another load than its self-load. These walls are just used as partition walls or to separate rooms from outside. It is known as the interior wall and doesn’t carry another load than its self-load.

CAVITY WALLS: It is a wall constructed from two thicknesses of brickwork or blockwork with a cavity between them. Cavity walls help to prevent the penetration of rain to the internal surface of the wall. This type of building wall construction consisting of an outer wall fixed to the inner wall detached by an air space. Cavity walls help to prevent the penetration of rain to the internal surface of the wall.

SHEAR WALL: Shear walls are a framed wall created to resist lateral forces. It is used to repel wind and earthquake loading on a building. It is typically a wood frame stud walls covered with a structural sheathing material like plywood. It is a vertical element of the horizontal force resisting system. PARTITION WALL: Partition wall is an inside non-load bearing wall to divide the bigger space into lesser spaces. These walls are built up of glass, fiberboards or brick masonry. The heights of a partition wall depend on the use which may be one story or part of one story.

  1. There are many types of wall and building them is all different process. But before building them we have to understand the concept of these walls and how to make them and what are their purposes actually. After that we can use תבניות קלות לבנין method to create different structures.
